Inclement Weather Announcement

In the event of inclement weather, WRNS typically follows Richardson ISD's weather closings, delays and early release plans. Occasionally though, due to conditions specific to our school, our decision to open or close will differ from the district's decision.

Our school's closing information will be listed around the RISD's posting time, which is around 6:30 a.m., if not earlier.

You can find out about our school's closings, delays and early release plans through these avenues:

  • Visit our school's website
  • Visit either of our school's 2 Facebook pages
  • Check these local TV channels and/or their websites: Channels 4, 5, 8 and 11
  • Receive a mass text message from the school.

Letter from Ms. Adams

White Rock North School suffered a small fire on December 28, 2016. Remediation is underway and everything is going to be fine, but we need your help with a couple of things, while our campus is being repaired.

In this fire, addressing the smoke and soot damage are of the greatest concern, because they have traveled through the Main building as well as into the Preschool wing/Gym.

ON TUESDAY, as we return to school please note the following:

1. The Main campus building will be closed off, during the restoration process, with no access, during the clean-up. Children arriving at school  between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. will report to the Gym, through the breezeway doors, between the Gym/Skating building and the Main building,

2. Students in Pre-Kindergarten will move temporarily to the Upper School/Elementary building. Parents will utilize the circle driveway at the south end of the campus, next to The Corner Cottage Infant Center to drop their children off and pick them up in the afternoon. Children will enter the campus through the Activity Center and proceed to their classrooms.

3. Students in Toddler or Preschool 2 classes will move temporarily to the Gym/Skating building. Parents will drive into the parking lot as usual and utilize the breezeway door between the Gym/Skating building and the Main building,  to drop their children off and pick them up in the afternoon.

4. If you have multiple children in different buildings, you will need to make 2 drop-off stops.

5. Please BE ON TIME when arriving for school as we will be using alternate entrances and exits that will NOT be manned after 8:30 a.m.

5. UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, ALL STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO BRING A DAILY LUNCH AND DRINK FROM HOME, starting Tuesday, January 3, 2017. We will NOT be allowed to prepare student meals until Dallas County Health gives us clearance to cook, serve and transport food, safely and free from possible air contamination.

6. Also, because porous items must be properly treated or discarded, all LOWER SCHOOL children must bring NEW diapers, a fresh blanket, spare clothes and shoes, that they can have immediate access to. Children whose classes are in the Main building will not be able to access any current classroom items, as the area is sealed off.

7. Children who are due to transition from The Corner Cottage Infant Center to the Main campus building will be in a hold pattern until we are finished with our campus repairs.

We anticipate a small amount of back-to-school transition as we begin on Tuesday, so please allow me to thank you now for your patience, support and understanding as we navigate this journey together.  As we progressed through the first few days of our temporary situation there may be additional information to share or changes to be made. I will keep you posted on our website, Facebook page and via Remind.com.

This fire was certainly an unfortunate event, but our school will be more beautiful than ever, once the repair work is completed.

Sadly, we had a small fire December 28 in the basement of the main campus building. The suspected cause was an exploding heat lamp that was warming our baby chickens.

We suffered some smoke and soot damage, but started the cleanup on Thursday. Remediation crews started intensive cleaning throughout the Main and Preschool buildings, to address the fire, smoke and soot damage.

On the positive side... our campus is going to be even more beautiful than ever, because we're getting a facelift through this unfortunate event!

We WILL have school on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, but all children must bring a lunch and drink from home daily, until further notice! Unfortunately our kitchen will be out of commission during our repairs.

Fire, smoke and soot damage are awful to deal with, but our teachers have risen to the challenge beautifully, to help the restoration company, so we'll be ready for school on Tuesday...even giving up some of their holiday to help out!

Props to our super-friendly ServPro team, because they are committed to our children's safety and are doing such detailed cleaning!!

Please watch our website for upcoming details regarding our plan of action through the fire repairs.
